Co_owner of title not available?

Did you add your friend to the loan as a cosigner, or to the title as co-owner? Obviously the latter if his name is on the title. What modifier is between your name and his? If it says "or" you have no problems. Either of you can make changes without the other signing. But if the modifier is "and" you have trouble. You can do nothing without his signature. But mail runs, even between MA and India, so get his signature on the limited power of attorney to sell the car. If you can't do that you have a car you can drive, and register, but not sell.
