2012(the date) - quotes from a book about the mive black hole in the center of our milky way What!!?

Whoever wrote this doesn't really seem to offer any link to how the Maya could have known this. yes, they did have sophisticated ways of measuring the movements of the stars and planets for their civilization and I'm sure it was a popular way to p the time, learn about their deities and folklore, and try to predict events in the future. However, I doubt that they had any idea of what a black hole as we know it might be. They may have imagined some mystical force that caused the heavenly bodies to move, but I think this author is trying to make some blind connection between 2012, black holes, and the Mayan civilization.
